Recon Events Code of Conduct

Recon events create a touchpoint with the brand, and the opportunity for members and admirers to create meaningful and memorable connections as they experience and explore their kinks and fetishes, in its many forms. We welcome and encourage the broad spectrum of the diversity across our community.

The Recon Events team, and their team of volunteers, makes every effort to ensure that Recon events are welcoming, safe and inclusive spaces for all attendees, and are committed to this code of conduct - showing respect to all attendees, and representing the brand with dignity.

All event attendees will agree to adhere to this code of conduct as a condition of attending a Recon event. This code of conduct also applies to all internal events staff, event venues, event partners, external staff, service providers and vendors throughout the duration of the event.

All participants at Recon events acknowledge that they must be at least 18 years of age (21 in the USA). For UK events, challenge 25 might be enforced by some UK event venues, whereby the attendees will be asked to show a valid form of a government issued ID as proof of age (if they look under 25). All event attendees must also acknowledge that they are attending a sex-positive event/space where there is the possibility of a sexually explicit dress code, activity or explicit content.

While there are some recon events which are social, and open to all genders, there are some Recon events which are ‘men-only spaces: open to all who identify as male, regardless of race, fetish interest, age, physical appearance, body size, disability, and personal or religious beliefs. Gay, Bi, Straight/Curious, Queer and Trans men are ALL welcome!

Harrassment

The Recon Events team is committed to creating events and spaces free from harassment, regardless of fetish interest, race, age, gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, sexual expression, physical appearance, body size, disability, and personal or religious beliefs. Any form of abuse, racism or discrimination will NOT be tolerated, and WILL be considered a breach of the terms of our Code of Conduct. This code of conduct is not limited to attendees, but must also be adhered to by internal and events staff, venues, service providers and vendors, throughout the duration of the event.

Forms of harassment and discrimination include, but is not limited to:

  • Wilful and unfair treatment or discrimination based on fetish interest, race, age, gender, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, sexual expression, physical appearance, body size, disability, and personal or religious beliefs
  • Unwanted and or unwelcome sexual attention or stalking
  • Unwelcome and non-consensual physical contact - of any kind
  • Hate speech (any form of discriminatory, right-wing or fascist rhetoric)
  • Intimidation or threats towards any attendee or member of event/venue staff, security, etc.
  • Unsolicited or covert photography or video recording

All attendees should respect the diversity of the fetish community, and respect the varying and individual ways that other attendees might want to experience the event and explore their fetishes.

There are boundaries:

  • No means no
  • Gear does NOT mean consent

Any request by another attendee for you to stop harassing them, or for you to leave them alone, should be respected and complied with immediately.

Any attendee experiencing any form of abuse, discrimination, harassment or inappropriate behaviour by another attendee, should contact a member of the Recon events team (always in a branded Recon T-shirt and a Recon Event Staff badge on their lanyard) one of our dungeon/play space Guardians, or an identified member of the venue security team immediately.

Alcohol

The consumption of alcohol is only permitted within the event/venue premises. Attendees are not allowed to leave the venue with alcohol. Permission to sell alcohol (within the UK) is only granted, provided there is a licensee for the premises. Venue management, and bar staff, as well as the Recon events team, have the right to refuse further purchase/consumption of alcohol, if you appear to be visibly intoxicated, and or seemingly losing control of yourself. Please note that the drinking age varies from country to country.

Controlled Substances

Controlled substances are not allowed at Recon Events. Venue security teams will perform a rigorous security search before entry. Any substances found will be confiscated immediately. Anyone found to be selling or distributing controlled substances will be immediately removed from the venue, banned, and reported to the authorities.

Weapons (Replicas or Props)

Weapons are strictly forbidden. No functioning and or realistic looking form of weapon (firearm, knife, projectile, etc.) is allowed to be brought in, carried or displayed by you, at any time. You might be otherwise questioned by venue/event security about any gear accessories which might resemble a weapon. A permit or licence to carry or possess any form of weapon, does NOT grant you the right to bring it into an event. It is strictly forbidden.

Photography and Video

At Recon events, we respect the right to privacy of event attendees, and ask that all attendees give each other that same respect. Photography is generally allowed (for some personal use), but we ask you to be courteous when taking photos at events. If someone does not wish to be photographed or filmed, please respect their wishes. Personal photography or video recording is NOT allowed in any of the “PLAY” spaces. This is a direct breach of privacy. Any attendee caught filming or recording in these spaces will be immediately asked to delete the content, and this may also result in your immediate removal from the venue/event.

Official Photographers at any Recon event, will have been contracted directly by them. External photographers are not allowed. Before you buy a ticket for a Recon event, we want to make you aware that our official photographers will be taking pictures of crowd scenes. T101 Ltd. owns the copyright to those photographs and uses them in its blogs, news articles and marketing materials. We do not tag people who appear in the photographs or single out individuals in any way. You will see posters at the event telling you that photographs are being taken and to whom you can make yourself known if you want to avoid being photographed. You won’t be denied entry to the event if you choose not to be photographed in these crowd scenes. Often we will also have a photography booth set up, where you can come to have your photograph taken.

Any event photography and or video taken by Recon, will not be used for any external commercial marketing or for the purpose of sale, or financial gain.

Code of Conduct Enforcement

At Recon events, our aim is to create inclusive, welcoming and safe spaces for you to enjoy and explore your fetishes and socialise with like-minded kinksters. Any attendee failing to comply with this code of conduct could be subject to any or all of the following:

  • Receiving a warning by the event or venue staff
  • Reported to venue security
  • Removal from the event venue
  • Ban from the venue
  • Ban from attending future Recon events
  • Reported to the authorities

The Recon events team stands by this Code of Conduct and expects all attendees to acknowledge that we also have a responsibility to ensure the safety, and the right to privacy of all event attendees.

Any questions or complaints regarding safety concerns, and enforcement of this code of conduct should be directed to the event staff or directly to the events producer.

Any member of staff or the events team who violates this code will be removed from the event and barred from working with or attending future events.

Reporting an Offence/Concern

If you feel threatened, or that you may be in danger, or are the subject of unwanted attention or discrimination, notify a member of the Recon events team, one of our guardians or a member of security so that we can take appropriate action.

Many venues across the UK have staff which are trained to identify and spot these problems. You can go to the bar or any member of the venue security and “Ask For Angela”. They will be able to assist you right away.

Many offences or recognisable breaches of codes of conduct are reported after an event. Please contact us directly at events@recon.com. All reports to Recon remain strictly confidential, and will be addressed as quickly as possible.
